Mountain bike or Gravel Bike; whichever, here's a lovely ride through some of northern Powys. It's mainly on quiet lanes, designated cycle routes and bridlepaths.

Below, you will find a 15 minute video of a few highlights (taken in May - an ideal month), a hand drawn map and a handful of still images too.

So, if having watched the video, you feel like saddling up then why not pop across to my Komoot, where you can download the route GPS details.

If, like me, you start from Corris or Aberllefenni, then the ride will be about 40 miles with a little over 5,100 feet of ascent. You could also choose to start in Machynlleth, this will shorten the ride a little but you won't miss any of the glorious off-road sections :)

This is a great ride in clear weather, with huge vistas, open moorland and peaceful woodland. There are however, one or two sections that are perhaps a little gnarly with steep slopes, loose slate and the occasional rocky outcrop - but it's easy enough to just walk those short challenges and the views are utterly worth it!

And a few still images too, to wet your appetite further..
